Numbers 21:5-9 ESV
[5] And the people spoke against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.” [6] Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. [7] And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. [8] And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” [9] So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.
....And they eventually turned with worship towards the symbol of the curse that was once a remedy for the venom in their veins and the sin in their hearts.
2 Kings 18:4 ESV
[4] He removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah. And he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had made offerings to it (it was called Nehushtan).

....What venom flows in your your veins? The sin nature remains long after the poison is neutralized.
Interesting.... H8314 hebrew word for fiery is the same that describes the seraphim, who worship Him with praises of HOLY HOLY HOLY IS THE LORD OF HOSTS THE WHOLE EARTH IS FULL OF HIS GLORY.
For in the word there is certain truth but in my dreams a need for discernment:
Jeremiah 23:28-29 ESV
[28] Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the Lord. [29] Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

Do you feel the fire that burns from the dry bones? It cannot even be extinguished when I choose to quench for no water
Jeremiah 20:9 ESV
[9] If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.

There will be a day of great fire and great affliction for those that remain. In the fire is where the impurities are burned away:
Ezekiel 22:20-22 ESV
[20] As one gathers silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin into a furnace, to blow the fire on it in order to melt it, so I will gather you in my anger and in my wrath, and I will put you in and melt you. [21] I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst of it. [22] As silver is melted in a furnace, so you shall be melted in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am the Lord; I have poured out my wrath upon you.”

So I song songs of praise and thanksgiving for Him who stood beside me in my furnace of affliction. Now I pray I may dwell in the furnace! For He is the Lord of my life, of all Creation, and I am but a slave to Christ. (And pray I will not forget)
Daniel 3:17-18 ESV
[17] If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. [18] But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

The things the Lord cares about is critically important and not to be taken lightly. For there will come a day of peace - for the sheep but also a day of destruction for the goats.
And so with conviction and purpose I awake from a slumber and step forward in faith. I know not the plan and strive to not hold tightly to any more of my own. For I am His alone.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 ESV
[19] Do not quench the Spirit. [20] Do not despise prophecies, [21] but test everything; hold fast what is good. [22] Abstain from every form of evil.
