the crossroads

To be or not to be: A eunuch by choice? This question stands before me. I read that iron sharpens iron

📜 Proverbs 27:17 — As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

That it is not good for man to be alone.

📜 Genesis 2:18 — Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

So the Lord provides help. A Help Meet. This is the kind of thing He does—rescues His people. Ezer is the Hebrew word. How interesting is it that the help provided—it is from the Lord. In big ways, but also in small. For this word is used elsewhere to describe the Lord’s love for us:

📜 Psalm 33:20 — Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help (ezer) and our shield.

He loves His children. He cares for His sheep! They call Him the Good Shepherd, and His character suits. This I read:

📜 John 10:11 — I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

There are specific asks I have. Selfish ones for sure. Hard not to think of them. A desire for one who is wise, who seeks first the Kingdom. A little queen with a crown of dust for our short time here.

📜 Matthew 6:33 — But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

There is the next life, where joy and peace are in great abundance! So let us fix our eyes toward Christ’s return, for what is known as His bride: the Church.

📜 Revelation 19:7 — Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready.

These are all who put their faith in Him—Jesus specifically, the one raised from the dead, who died for our sins—how we have walked wickedly.

📜 Romans 3:23 — For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

A walk in the flesh. So it is better that most days are walks in the Spirit.

📜 Galatians 5:16 — But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

When we walk in the flesh, fleshly thoughts arise. These thoughts of the flesh must be imprisoned. Held captive in a holding cell. To be interrogated, questioned, and proved.

📜 2 Corinthians 10:5 — We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

What to do with you? Who sent you? What are your intentions—do they line up with biblical truth and through the lens of a life that is living out a faith in Christ? He is the Savior of us all—if you believe! And repent. Both are key steps. Make it a surrender.

📜 Acts 3:19 — Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.

Hardship on this first earth is like fire. As metals are put through the heat, the impurities rise to the top. Dross is what they call it. Nasty, hot stuff. The junk. These are removed so that what remains is more pure. Easily shaped. Molded to a new form.

📜 Proverbs 17:3 — The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests the hearts.

So after the fire, I see the value in heavenly treasure. Gold and riches to last. A need for builders and teachers and prophets and servants.

📜 Matthew 6:19-20 — Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

📜 Luke 17:7-10 — Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’? Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’

And so I stand at a crossroads, in time and space though I am reminded I am not even guaranteed a breath for tomorrow.

📜 James 4:14 — Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

This is the season of new choices. So I pray and sing praises; asking for wisdom.

📜 Psalm 34:1 — I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

There was the gift in the past season of a marriage. And now a gift in the current season of availability. Challenge abounding in a marriage—the union of two for 11 years, 3 days. And now the joy of another challenge: celibacy.

📜 Matthew 19:12 — For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it.

So regardless, I live as a eunuch by choice. And now I consider challenging that choice. Dating. This is an opportunity where I must be sure the belt of truth is securely fit.

📜 Ephesians 6:14 — Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness.
