Last night I dreamt of dragon boats on top of water turned red. I shed tears. Others marveled in surprise. And so I awoke in lament over a promised judgement to come:
Ezekiel Chapter 7: The Coming of the End
7 Then this message came to me from the Lord: 2 “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says to Israel:
“The end is here!
Wherever you look—
east, west, north, or south—
your land is finished.
3 No hope remains,
for I will unleash my anger against you.
I will call you to account
for all your detestable sins.
4 I will turn my eyes away and show no pity.
I will repay you for all your detestable sins.
Then you will know that I am the Lord.!
Ezekiel may have been swept up for scroll snacks and Habakkuk given visions. But do we not also have what is written from Genesis to Revelation? How plainly has the truth been given to us. It includes both gentle instruction and harsh rebuke for His glory. Why are we so inclined to turn our hearts towards disobedience!
Habakkuk 2:2-3
2 And the LORD answered me: "Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. 3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end--it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
I too write my vision. To what end I have no idea. I do know the words here, the writing and reading, and it is at least for my own running. I run to the imperishable crown, for there are winners and losers in each race.
From Luke Chapter 19:
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
I too weep. I see it in the city skyline at Red Rocks. I see it when I descend from the mountains on i70. I see it daily on my commute. For how long does the Word of God stay hidden from their eyes? So many cannot see what is unseen; they are blind! Oh what misery to come for those with hearts of stone!
This I know:
The Word of God is coming.
He who is the Alpha and Omega.
My shoe laces have been tied. The rest of the armor will be made ready soon. For the peace that flows out of my heart in bewildering contentment is beyond my own understanding. All to Him be given the glory:
“For shoes, put on peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared” (Ephesians 6:15 NLT).
